SSDP Sues Department of Education
Students for Sensible Drug Policy filed a lawsuit against the Department of Education over the Freedom of Information Act. The Act makes information available to the public at no cost if the information is deemed to serve public interest. SSDP is trying to gather information about students who were denied financial aid based on drug convictions. The Dept. of Education refused to waive the fee, saying that the information won't "contribute meaningfully...to the general public's understanding" of the issue at hand.
